ARTIST INFO A.J. is an emerging self-taught artist originally from Seattle. She graduated with a BA in Economics and Sociology, and spent her professional career working in roles that required organization and detailed analysis. In her painting career, A.J. has taken measured and controlled techniques and applied them to her art. Her layered circular designs, created with the eraser side of a #2 pencil, are inspired by her analysis of relationships and individuals, and how they work together or against each other to make beauty or darkness. To A.J., the circle represent the beauty and perfection that resides in all of us, and although the individual may have nuances and subtlety's that aren't perfect for everyone, the core of that person is innately good. Her dots represent the numerous characteristics and nuances that each individual has that are unique to them only. Add multiple circles together and she tells a story of individuals interacting together, resulting in happiness, love, empowerment, or dysfunction. All of these details represent how complex and detailed relationships can be. Often taking into consideration a specific dynamic between individuals she knows, she is continually challenged by the accurate representation of those individuals in circular form.
